Finding and registering your game console's MAC address

If you own an Xbox or a Playstation 2 and would like to be able to place it on the network, you will need to register it with the Help Desk. One of the things you need to submit is the MAC address, which allows us to identify your console so we can grant it access.

Wii        Xbox         Playstation           Gamecube

Connecting your Nintendo Wii to the network

Important: The Nintendo Wii does not ship with the ability to connect to wired network connections. Students who wish to use the Wii online in the Res Halls will need to purchase a Wii USB/LAN Adapter and use an ethernet cable.

When you call the helpdesk, make sure you give them the MAC address of the USB/LAN adapter, and not the Wii device. For more info on the USB/LAN adapter, go to Nintendo's page.

To locate your Nintendo Wii USB/Lan adapter MAC address:

  1. From the Wii Channel menu, select Wii (the round button on the bottom-left of the screen with "Wii" on it) and then Wii Settings.
  2. Click the right arrow to go to the second page. Select Internet, then Console Information.
  3. The MAC address of the Wii console's LAN Adapter is displayed on the second line.
