Computer Labs - Providence

The Providence Campus has three computer centers. Staff members are available in these computer labs to help students and answer questions. Students need an active J&W email account to access the computers. Students who do not have an active account can call the University Help Desk.

In an effort to better serve students, students are allowed to reserve designated computer labs to practice presentations. Reservations (0.5 hour blocks) will only be accepted in these labs when classes are not being held. Staff will work to ensure that students reserving the labs are not disturbed and that their privacy is respected. Lab reservations are being taken at the front desk of the three computing centers. The Academic Center Labs, on the 3rd, 4th and 5th floors of the Academic Center, house 200 computers. Labs feature programming and electronic engineering software and contain a lab of Macintosh computers, a specialized lab for study and exploring networking, a helpdesk lab and a computer repair lab.

The Harborside Computer Center labs contain 128 networked and internet-ready multimedia computers. Software includes a powerful statistical package as well as nutrition and menu planning templates.

The Xavier Computer Labs are on the 2nd floor on the Xavier Complex, and house 148 computers. Besides general-purpose labs available to all students, specialized labs available for the hotel property management system, and an airline reservation system.
